I once tried to write alternative lyrics for Wild Roses for my then-gf. It's one helluva song.

Since I need to recalibrate my music weirdness meter, is this weird?

Always loved that song and, after I finally listened to the lyrics, even more. Walk on the Wild Side also has it’s funny parts. Those never was banned in Germany, seems like German censors don’t care about English. Thinking about the old “Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Schriften” I doubt that most of those embittered old geezers understood English. Always thought it was funny that Zappa’s Bobby Brown was played day in day out but a lot of the songs of the Ärzte was instantly banned.

Ah! Bobby Brown.

I recorded that off-air in Germany.
Then I played it inadvertantly while my parents were visiting.
Song started. Do I leap up and stop it or hope they aren't listning?
Start talking a bit louder.
My father either wasn't listning or it went straight over his head.
My mother WAS listning AND obviously understanding!
We never spoke of the matter.
