Taking Indefinite Break from Art to Pay Off Credit Card

I use a credit card to supplement my personal “fun money” bank account, and have barely made a dent in the card’s balance since transitioning solely to AI in January, and using online platforms like Krea and Budget Pixel. On the contrary, I keep adding to it, so I’m taking an indefinite break from art in general to focus on other interests while I pay the card off. I’ll still be around though.

That sucks, but completely understand., It's hard for me to justify spending at times. When i finally changed plans at Higgsfields I'll probably lose the unlimited option for Seedream and that will put a serious dent into my creativity also. I just got a $3500 bonus at work, and I was already debt free (knock on wood) so i am good for another month or two.

It's kind of a blessing that NB pro is censored, LOL

That's sad but understandable, Nyghtfall. Yes, concentrate on paying off the credit card balance, as the interest rates the companies charge are quite extortionate.

What, you mean there is a hobby that is more expensive than 3D art?
I feel like AI has fast become the tech equivalent of the next great gold rush, but consumers are the nuggets of gold being syphoned.

Put another way, if AI is like a slot machine, AI platforms have become the casinos you pay to use premium models, and like traditional machines, they pay out just enough to incentivize people to keep dumping quarters into them.

Budget Pixel even charges an extra 45 credits to edit an image you may have already spent 135 or more credits to generate. That's 45 credits for every edit, and there's no guarantee that the edit you prompted will render as you intended.

I can see meetings coming up along the lines of AA, "Hello my name Bob and I'm an AI Gambler! I am five day AI free so far!"
The rest of the group "Hello Bob!"

That's the worst part of the creative process. The part of your cognitive thinking that recognizes when you're gambling doesn't treat it as such when you're crafting prompts because you're striving for artistic gain as apposed to monetary gain. That part of my brain only kicks in once I've spent my monthly credit allotment and find myself faced with the question of whether to buy more credits. It wasn't until my credit card statement billed yesterday that I finally managed to draw enough of a parallel to step away.

You think it's expensive now, just wait until they hook it up to 3D Printers ;)

Didn't Daz do something like this two years ago?
Yeah, DAZ has a lot of failed initiatives. I actually have the free promotional 3D printed figure they sent out at the time. It's probably worth as much as their NFT's They still sell 3D printing licenses for their content for $1.99, they gave up on trying to sell printed copies themselves. I have no idea if anybody ever pays for a license.
